There is a story in the Bible about a man who lived in a graveyard, away from other people, wearing no clothes, was uncontrollable “because many demons had entered him”. He had been “bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard. But he would break the restraints and be driven by the demon into deserted places.”
Then Jesus came. The demons recognized Him, they knew who He was, and they begged Him not to throw them out of the man and into Hell. There was a herd of pigs nearby, and Jesus allowed the demons to enter the pigs when He threw them out of the man. When that happened, the pigs rushed down the hill into the lake and drowned.
You might ask, why did He allow all those pigs to be destroyed like that? Well, the conclusion I have come to is that one human soul is worth much more than thousands of pigs. Jesus died for human souls, all human souls. And He allowed the demons to enter the pigs in order to save one human being. And do you know what happened to the demon-possessed man? They found him “sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind”. You can read the story in Luke, chapter 8.
Jesus wants to save and deliver you, too! But He had to die in order to do that. And you, my friend, are worth dying for. Jesus thought so and He acted on it. He went to the cross knowing the agony He would suffer to save your soul. After He suffered, He died hanging on that cross. But He didn’t stay dead. He didn’t stay in the tomb where they placed His dead body. He rose from the dead after three days and He is alive today.
And He is waiting for you to come to Him for salvation. The price has already been paid – His own blood. What does He want in return? He wants YOU. All of you. All you have to do is turn from your sins and believe in your heart that Jesus died and rose again. Then you must declare Him Lord of your life. This means that you let Him rule, and you obey!
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9-10
I sincerely pray that you will do this.
