Thanks for Faithfulness

Posted on November 24, 2025 By Beth No Comments on Thanks for Faithfulness

This week is Thanksgiving. It’s my favorite holiday. I am so glad that i live in the only country that celebrates Thanksgiving because i’m not sure i would have a favorite otherwise. And i strongly encourate citizens of other countries to go ahead and celebrate Thanksgiving anyway.

Maybe it’s the holiday’s natural resistance to commercialization; i’m not sure. There’s something wonderful and sacred about a whole day set aside with the purpose of giving thanks.

And it’s also because giving thanks is something i can always do. And always need to do. And always find myself in a better state of mind and heart after i have done it. And the reason i can always give thanks – no matter what circumstance i find myself in – is because God is always faithful. I never find myself in the circumstance of God being unfaithful. That’s not who He is.

Psalm 36:5 says that God’s faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

And Lamentations 3:22-25 says:

This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.

The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.

They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

It is my prayer for you this week, that in the middle of whatever is going on, you remember to turn your heart toward Him who is always faithful and to thank Him for His faithfulness, to trust in Him and have hope.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Great is thy faithfulness, O God, my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be.

Great is thy faithfulness,
Great is thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hast provided;
Great is thy faithfulness,
Lord unto me.

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine and ten thousand beside.

Great is Thy Faithfulness, hymn by Thomas O. Chisolm 1923
